Leak Detection
What is Leak Detection
Leak Detection is a process used when a home or property has a leak, but the leak is not obvious or immediately noticeable. These types of leaks are usually in areas where they can go unnoticed for long periods of time. For example, underneath a homes foundation (concrete slab). In situations like this, leak detection is used to find the source of the leak. There are a few methods of doing this, but the use of an Acoustic Location System is the most common. We use this system in parallel with Thermo Scanning, hydrostatic and isolation test in order to pin point the source of the leak in order to repair it.
Acoustic Location System
To get to the leak, first we have to locate it. The principle behind acoustic leak detection is that all leaks produce sounds. Acoustic leak detection is simply listening for leaks. Water leaks create a specific noise when it leaks through a burst pipe. This is what acoustic leak detectors listen for. Water leaks produce high-frequency to low-frequency noise that can easily be picked up by this system. We use this with thermal imaging and a few other system to guarantee we get your home back in working order as quickly as possible.
Thermo Scanning
Thermal imaging camera measures variations in heat, or infrared radiation, and represents the heat as different colors in an image.
Most plumbing systems around your home are tucked away within walls, under flooring, or in the ceiling. Thermal imaging is a tool we use to find and/or narrow down where a leak is coming from. This allows us to minimize the damage done to your home, by expediting your repair.
